#1 Art Critique
The name of the student is Evan Oh and the original artwork Evan recreated is Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.
When I first look at this artwork, the sentence 'I "Heart" NY' stands out to me the most.
It stands out to me the most because they are thickly colored and the heart is colored with red.
The lines in the artwork leads my eyes around from place to place.
For me, I feel brusqueness from her face. I think it contains the meaning of how Mona Lisa would be like in the modern days.
If I can rename this artwork, I would rename it as Uglisa.
Evan did not color his artwork thickly, except for the heart. I think he thickly colored the heart to give some sort of impact.
Evan did not use many color, but yellow and black were definitely used to describe the night view of New York. I do not really know if this is New York, but I am guessing it is New York because the shirts says 'I "Heart" New York.' Red is used to color a heart when we think of a normal heart. Lastly, he colored his pencil with yellow because he was using yellow pencil when he was sketching, I guess.
I think Evan chose to recreate Mona Lisa because I believe that is the first artwork that popped up in his mind when he was assigned with the project.
I like it, but I think Evan could have done better. I wish he had colored the sky with dark purple to describe dusk. The mildness I receive from the original Mona Lisa is gone, but I will not criticize about it because he recreated it.

Color Project Artist Statement

Bae 1
The name of the original artwork is The Scream. The artist who created The Scream is Edvard Munch. Edvard Munch was a Norwegian; he was also a printmaker while he was a painter at the same time. He was born in December 12, 1863 and died in January 23, 1944. His artworks had a great impact on symbolism of the late 1800s and expressionism of the early 1900s.
I made this project because it was fun. I chose Edvard Munch's The Scream, however, because I thought the artwork would be a perfect model for an artwork I would like to create. I wanted to see how I would be like when I get a bad grade on the report card by the end of this semester; still that does not mean I want to get a bad grade. I wanted to describe a fear, and embarrassment in the artwork. Although there are some parts I don't like about this artwork, I think it is a good one.
First, I drew the outline of the artwork. Originally, I wanted to put Fs for all the subjects, but Allen told me that I should put A for math. I did not put personal fitness on my artwork because it was too long and I did not want to waste my time trying to sketch the words for the project. I chose acrylic paint because it does not bot easily with the other paints unless we make them blot with one another. I was perplexed when I found out that there was no black and white paints, but I improvised and used red and yellow instead; actually, I think it was better for me to use red instead of black.

I chose Edvard Munch's The Scream because, like I said, I thought the artwork would be a perfect model for an artwork I would like to create. My artwork symbolize how all the students in the world, including me, are scared of bad grades on their report card.
I chose dark blue to symbolize the darkness. I mean when the students get bad grades on their report card, they usually don't know what do to because they are so scared. I colored the letters, eyes, and my mouth to symbolize fear and shock. I changed the colors in the artwork to represent the emotions in my own.
I used the secondary colors for my artwork. I only used blue, purple, red and yellow. I used purple for my T-shirt. It may seem like black, but when I colored it, it was purple. The color got changed as it dried off.
I changed the style and technique to make The Scream into my own. While Edvard Munch used different colors to draw his artwork, I only used four colors. I changed the style and technique because I thought I could not draw what I wanted to draw if I used his same style and techniques.
